KA2 AND ENGLAND DEAF RUGBY – AN INSPIRATIONAL TEAM

14 August 2018

In March 2018 KA2 committed to sponsor England Deaf Rugby (EDRU). Read more here.

England Deaf Rugby was set up to enable the Deaf and Hard of Hearing people to get together and enjoy the sport of rugby union. It enables them to participate in every aspect of the sport whether training, match, or knowing socially that there aren’t any communication barriers due to a common ground.

Since KA2 teamed up with EDRU, they have raised funds which helped the ladies team to travel to Australia where they won the Ladies World Cup – a monumental achievement for everyone involved (except the Aussies). It was the first time they had played in an international arena and they won all five of their games.

KA2 will host the second fund raising Quiz Night to support the EDRU’s upcoming trip to Bulgaria.

Chriss Andrews, founder and CEO of KA2 commented. “Rugby is one of my passions and I am delighted to be involved with the England Deaf Rugby folks. They are an inspirational group and I am truly humbled by all they have achieved thus far. The KA2 Quiz Night has been created to provide not only a fun night out for everyone but at the same time support a very worthy cause. I am looking forward to the next quiz on Wednesday 5th September and going head to head with the rugby team (and some others). Bring it on!”

Richard ‘Juggler’ Austin, Secretary at England Deaf Rugby commented, “We are truly grateful for the support from Chriss and the team at KA2. This cause is extremely important to those involved and the wider rugby scene and deaf community. We absolutely rely on the generosity of people like Chriss. The funding is essential as it enables us to continue to recruit new players and represent England on a national level.”
