Reflecting on 2024: A Year of Innovation, Recognition, and Sustainability Leadership

Awards and Accolades: Honouring Our Achievements

2024 has been a remarkable year, punctuated by prestigious awards and acknowledgements that underscore our impact in sustainability and IT innovation.

• edie Awards 2024: In March, COzPro was named a finalist in the Product Innovation: Solutions, Systems and Software category, celebrating our contribution to sustainable leadership.

• CEO Recognition: Chriss Andrews, CEO of KA2 Limited, was recognised twice in March. SME News named her the UK’s Most Empowering ESG Tech Innovations CEO of the Year, and she received the Global 100 – 2024 Women in Leadership Award, honoured as a “Sustainability Trailblazer” for her vision and leadership.

• SustainableIT.org Membership: February saw Chriss accepted as a member of this esteemed community, joining like-minded technology executives driving global sustainability.

• SustainableIT Impact Awards 2024: We earned an Honourable Mention at the Awards ceremony in Austin, Texas reflecting our dedication to advancing sustainable innovation on a global scale.

• BCS & Computing UK IT Industry Awards 2024: In November, COzPro was Highly Commended in the Sustainable Innovation of the Year category.

• Looking Ahead: We eagerly await the results of the CRN Sustainability in Tech 2025, where we have been selected as finalists in the Best Sustainable Project of the Year category for our collaboration with the NHS Digital Net Zero Team.

Pioneering Projects: Redefining IT Sustainability

A groundbreaking proof of concept was awarded to KA2 Limited by NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) in January. We mapped over 24,000 IT and clinical assets across North East Lincolnshire Place, identifying actionable steps to achieve sustainability goals in line with the Government Green Agenda.  Using COzPros advanced modelling and visualisation capabilities, the results not only created strategies to achieve a 25% reduction in carbon emissions in their IT estate but demonstrated cost savings of over 6% in the procurement, retention, and disposal phases of their tech lifecycle.

With COzPro at its core, the project established The Smarter Greener Digital Blueprint for Sustainable IT, as a sustainable IT innovation framework for the NHS and beyond.

Product Developments in 2024 Produce Major Advancements

This year marked significant advancements for COzPro:

• The Carbon Rating Engine (CRE): In January, we acquired the licence for this advanced no-code calculation engine, which powers COzPro with precise carbon measurement and management capabilities.

• COzPro Version 3 Launch: August brought the release of COzPro v3 on the ServiceNow Store, delivering fully automated Scope 2 and 3 data collections for carbon reduction planning in real-time.

• COzJourneys: Due for release in January, this feature enables users to model and test multiple CO2e reduction plans, driving carbon optimisation strategies with precision across the enterprise.

Collaboration with Oxford University

Towards year-end, Jean-Marc Jefferson, KA2’s Head of Sustainability and Innovation, was invited by the University of Oxford to join with other Sustainability thought leaders on a UK Research and Innovation Programme addressing WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment). This partnership further cements KA2’s important role in advancing the circular economy and carbon avoidance.
